HÅNDVÆRK is printed on Munken, which is made by Arctic Paper Munkedals, a paper factory on the banks of the Örekil River in the town of Munkedal, 100 km north of Gothenburg, Sweden. The town developed around the paper mill, like many other Swedish towns that formed around an industrial manufacturing company.

Artic Paper Munkedals is a European leader in sustainable paper manufacturing. The company is both FSC- and Cradle to Cradle-certified and has one of the lowest levels of water consumption per ton of paper. The water comes from the river and is cleansed by microorganisms before it is discharged. The microorganisms die in the process and turn to slag, which is used as organic fertilizer. After this cleansing process, the water is clean enough to drink: visitors to the factory are routinely offered a glass of wastewater.

Cradle to Cradle certified® is an internationally acknowledged, third-party verified product standard related to the circular economy. It is designed as an efficient tool for handling the green transition, developing new products and business models and building helpful partnerships throughout the value chain.
